Next month I'll be off with a group of students from the school on a learning tour of France. Here's the map of where we're going:
Paris - Taize - Marseille - Carcassonne - Paris - Chatres - Paris
It's about 2000 km, just a bit more than we did the last time (1800 km in 2008), but less than half of what we did the first time (4500 km in 2002). I didn't really like Paris all that much the first time I was there, so I'm not quite sure how I ended up going for a third time, but c'est la vie. (that's French.) We'll be going to many other new spots, so I'm not concerned about not being very diverse in my European adventures. The next trip won't go near France at all (I say that now...)

more elevation
Out of curiousity, I got the elevation tracks for two other hikes I've had my GPS on for: the May long weekend hike of 2009 and Blaze A Trail 2009.

Yesterday was Blaze A Trail 2010. I don't know how successful it was this year, but I do know that it was more than last year.
It was a fun time had by the group - 5 of us from KW went up, leaving at 6AM from the school and getting back to the school at 9pm after stopping for dinner on the way home. We hiked with 3 others from the church we met at in Stayner over the 20.5 km section which encompassed part of the section that I hiked last spring.
I'll have the GPS track up in a day or so, but for now, here's two of my favourite pictures.

blogging is cool
I'm not sure if it's the lack of things to say or the lack of things to say in some level of public forum, but I haven't felt like reminiscing about life, the universe, and everything in this fashion recently.
I've been doing some thinking recently about motivation: what motivates us? How can we remain motivated? Is goal setting really useful when the future is uncertain? How can I reach goals I've previously set for myself when the landscape has changed and will continue to do so? And the list goes on.
I'm not really sure what the answer to any of these questions is at the moment, but perhaps it is a good opportunity to consider them over the coming weeks and months. But for now, these remain vague in this format.
Tomorrow's Blaze A Trail. Looks like we'll have at least double the participants that we had last year and will cover at least 2-3 times the length of trail. Last year was 20 people over 175km of main and side trails. I'll let you know totals as they come in for this year.
Out.
