So I watched the Bank Job on an Air Canada flight on the way home from Frankfurt, and I thought it was an ok movie. Not too crude overall.

This weekend, a friend invited me over to watch the Bank Job because I had said it was good, so I said sure, why not watch it again. It was a different version than they had on the plane. Much more nudity and sexual content.

So overall review: It's an ok movie, if you watch it on Air Canada. If you don't, the first 10 minutes are full of toplessness and sexual content with occasional comebacks every now and again throughout.

So that's what I have to say.

stuck in a cell

I've had my current cell phone for 2 years, and I've been with Telus the entire time. I know I don't have the greatest of plans for a pay as you go, but I don't use my phone enough to really merit anything more. I've been mostly OK with them. Until 2 weeks ago. Telus joined with Bell and is going to start charging for incoming text messages. Not a huge thing, but this means that whenever Telus sends me a message (seems to be about 4-5 times per month), I'll be out $0.15. And whenever my friends send me a message, I'll be out $0.15. It all adds up, seeing as I could sometimes save a few cents here and there by having a quick text exchange rather than spending minutes at $0.25 in conversation.

So I've decided to change providers. Within the next month, I'll hopefully be transferring my number over to Virgin Mobile... that is, if I can get the phone I want. It seems that all their good, reasonably priced phones, are out of stock at the moment with no option of being put on a waiting list to ship when available. I don't need the camera built in, but it'd be a nice feature to have.

Oh well... as long as I can get a phone that's not held together by tape, it'll probably be just peachy.

Now to use up my $75 in Telus credit over the next few weeks.

A few things:

1. I made banana bread with Alicia the other day. It turned out alright. A bit dark, but I haven't died yet from eating it.

2. Last week I went to the walk in clinic with a really odd problem - dry skin above the lip on one side. No pain or burning. The Doctor was perplexed, but prescribed some stuff, and lo and behold, it went away. So now I get to keep on going with the prescribed stuff for another month. Woo!

3. After a follow-up appointment yesterday, the Doctor asked if there was anything else he could do for me since it went by really fast. I said "I haven't had my 10 year booster shot in 12 years." So I got my TD shot (not the bank). My arm still hurts a bit.

4. The storm tonight was awesome. Although rumour has it, some people are now without tree in their backyard. While that was happening, the clouds were blowing in a south-westerly direction (not the right direction), the downtown disappeared into a blanket of rain, the windows sounded like they were going to break under the strain of the wind, and overall I was trying to figure out where we go in an apartment building in event of a tornado. We don't really have a basement. The Laundry room or Hallway?

5. I have most of next week off, and with that, I'm going home. Dentist appointment on Tuesday morning! Whoo! Hopefully I'll be able to hit the beach at the Pinery too. It's been too long.

So I went to Paramount Canada's Wonderland yesterday. It was nice to go and not be inundated with all the Paramount garbage that has covered the park over the past few years.

The lines weren't too bad - approx. 30 minutes average with the shortest line being a walk-on to the Dragonfire and the longest being about an hour for White Water Canyon - I got the full force of the waterfall. It was nice.

Overall, the day was one of the better ones I've had at Wonderland. Behemoth - the new coaster - was an awesome ride for those that haven't been there and was worth the 30 minute line.

So anyway, it was a good day off in the middle of the week.

I'll go back another day.

So I've been playing more PS2 recently since I've been fairly bored with my courses all finished and many friends busy working or vacationing. So, while out on a trip to the mall, I picked up Tony Hawk Underground for $10, seeing as I'd played it before and although I really sucked, it seemed like a better two player game than Guitar Hero (purchased GH3 on Ebay for about 1/2 price what I could get it used at EB).

So, in the spirit of being lazy and more than likely undoing many of the good things I did while on vacation, I've spent a lot of time on the couch trying to beat the game on easy. As I slowly learned [side note - Firefox 3 didn't have the word learned in it's dictionary for spell check] how to do the tricks about 4 levels after where I should have learned them, I got better to the point where I beat the final level last night and we can now freestyle on all but one level, whatever that one is...

Only problem is I'm now seeing skateboard tricks whenever I close my eyes... perhaps I should take a break now that I've gotten this far.

Also, I'm fairly certain I've beaten GH1 and GH2 on Medium and I'm fairly certain Hard, but I'm getting close to beat them on Expert as well, and GH3 I've gotten almost through it on Hard.

Yeah, I think I need a life.

children's ministry

This week I've been helping out with a VBS that some of the students from the school are running. My area of responsibility is the recreation / games station, in which three groups of approximately 15 kids come for 25 minutes of games. In some cases, it's easy to keep them occupied, in others, it's agonizing.

It's been 4 years since I've last worked with kids of this age, and I can tell you that I think any skills I had in this area have been lost since then. I'm glad to help out, but my creativity and abilities in keeping the interest of kids for this length of time without another's help is definitely not my forte.

And so, I go into tomorrow hoping for the best, but we'll see what happens. I was browsing through lists of games tonight and trying to figure out how to explain them to 6 year olds is beyond me. Oh well... here goes nothing.
