I'm not sure if anyone else has seen the new music video that help educate about roundabout safety, but I'm finding the tune catchy, although not all that great in production value. Because of it, I find myself pointing in the direction I want to walk, even if there are no roundabouts nearby (the closest one is a few KM's away).
Also, CTV's screwing with the weather. It used to be in one chunk after business news, but now they've split it up with a small amount after Business news and the rest somewhere later in the broadcast. The problem with this, is that the rest now comes sometime after health "news" and entertainment "news" and sports "news". I put them in quotes because they're not actually news. They're fear-mongering and gossip and... who really cares about sports anyway? For these reasons, I turn off the TV after the weather... but now, I only get partial weather before I'm forced to turn it off. It's not fair. Don't mess with the system. It worked before.

Here's a brief lesson in knowing how to use the alarm system properly:
1. Turn it off before it activates
2. If it activates, call the reporting centre before they start calling people.
3. If the reporting centre calls someone to get them out of bed at 12:50 AM, seem apologetic when the person shows up 20 minutes later not very impressed at you.

So I am probably going to be fined a large sum of money by the city of Waterloo in the near future.
Wait a minute, what?
Well, through the past two weeks, we have had a few snowy days where I've been out driving in the city of Waterloo. Two times during this period, I was driving up to an intersection where there sits a red light camera (read: quick-money-making-mechanism) and when the light turned yellow, I stepped on my brakes and they were pumping away, but I wasn't slowing down any, so the safest option was to run the red.
My question is, do they take into account weather conditions before fining individuals who run the reds in these locations, or is it an automatic fine no matter if there were 2 inches of slush on the road or not?
Today, I saw the yellow and under normal snowy circumstances would have had loads of room to stop, but for some reason, my car wasn't going to stop. So I had to just go so I wasn't in the middle of the intersection when my vehicle finally decided to slow to a halt.
Sigh... I'll fight it if it comes.

For those who are interested, Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog is now available on Amazon.ca for somewhere around $15. It has a bunch of extra features on it, but you really don't need the features to make it worth having in your collection. Besides, where else can you learn that you're not supposed to bounce Wonderflonium?
I've been thinking about updating this all week, but there's nothing happening at the moment. I'm at UW taking Paul: Life and Letters as my "easy" introductory course to university life. At some point in time over the next few months I'll probably attempt to plan out what I'm actually doing at Waterloo and start considering any majors that could pop up along the way. I only say the course is easy because I have quite a few Religious Studies courses under my belt already, so it's old hat to me.
Tomorrow I'm hopefully taking a group of students to Hamilton to do a waterfall photography tour. We'll be stopping at Webster's Falls, Tew's Falls, Tiffany Falls, Albion Falls, Felker's Falls, and possibly Devil's Punchbowl Falls, pending on weather and how cold we are.
I'm preparing for two chapels I'm in charge of in March already. First one is on Photography as art. So I'm using it as a chance to bring out the perspective that you can learn so much more about a person's character and experiences by hearing the stories behind the pictures they take. There'll be a few stories coming from pictures that I've taken through the years as well.
Otherwise, there's my update.

road conditions: slippery
Driving home last night, I took the expressway and decided to try the flyover down to Fairway Road. On the flyover, I started skidding around a bit, so I slowed down. And then on Fairway, I wanted to stop at the lights at Wilson, because that's what you do at a red light, and it just wasn't going to happen. So I magically was able to turn right without hitting anyone and then cut through the Shopper's Parking lot.
This morning, there was an accident turning right onto Franklin from Weber. The firetrucks had the right lane blocked off so people couldn't get through... or could they? Some idiot decided to go around the fire truck and boy did he get a blast of the horn. Some people are idiots.
Probability of me getting snow tires next year: high.
