Sent off my 4th paper for my course today. Now all that's left is one more short paper and my final exam and I'm done. June 9th is the day I have set aside to write the exam.

time wasters
Have you ever fallen into the rut where you're so bored that you visit the same websites every time you pick up the computer, which may only be like 10 minutes apart?
My salvation's not dependant on checking Facebook every 10 minutes. Or the news. Or Google Reader.
Time to go for a walk, I think.
Oh... I tried making a stir fry and rice today (first try cooking rice ever), and it was tasty. I have stuff leftover for either dinner or lunch tomorrow.

the winner is... / update
I'm not Phat.
Good to know.
It was actually the only question I could think of at the time, and with that, I think this ends my polling days on myblog.
A few updates from this week:
- Last night I completed watching Firefly and had so much non-time on my hands that I watched Serenity as well. Not a bad show - there's some good humour in it.
- Guitar Hero and I have parted ways for a while. When you start to see the game every time you close your eyes, there's gotta be a problem there. So I shall leave it off for some time now.
- EuroTrip Attempt II is coming up in just under 25 days. Whee! I'm fairly certain we have all our hotels booked, rail passes on hand, and plane tickets that will coincide with all the plans in the middle. My vacation time was even approved (after almost a month of waiting to see if I would be taking time off with company permission or just going and seeing what happened.) It's looking like 4 days in Paris, 2 in Munich, 2 in Salzburg, and 2/3 in Prague. Gord will take a few days to go back through Germany afterwards and then fly home about 4 days after me.
- My DE is closer to completion. I've done 55% of the course work. What's left is a 10% 3-4 page paper, 15% 5-6 page paper, and 20% final exam. Wanting to complete it for June 9th. Here's to seeing hopes come to fruition!
- I've been spending way too much time online lately and not enough time out and about. It's going to be a nice weekend, let's hope that I enjoy it proper rather than the sitting inside all day type of thing.
- I fixed an issue that's been plaguing us for almost 1.5 years at work today. Now to see if it was a good thing or not. I'm e-mailing the experts on Monday to see what they say.
- I'm getting it into my head that I need to get some more exercise and start eating a bit better. After a year of driving to work every day, I've put on a few pounds. My hope is to get rid of a few of those through a more steady stream of walking or biking at least 5 km daily (2.5 km each way to work). I sometimes wish it was an immediate thing, but I know that it'll take some time. I think I'll plan out a menu type system and buy groceries to match the system and see what comes of it. It's harder to cook for one or two people than it is for 5, I can tell you that.
- I've been reading Stewart McLean's Vinyl Cafe Diaries this week. It's a collection of stories about the four main characters in his tales (Dave, Morley, Stephanie and Sam). I've grown to like these tales over the past few months. I listen to the podcast weekly and now have a CD and a book. I've also been invited to go with some co-workers to his concert in Kitchener this Christmas. There's some good humour in these tales.
I think that's a lot of typing for tonight. I'll leave you with a scary picture that I took of myself this evening. I realized a few weeks back that I sabotage almost every picture that people try to take of me, thus leaving me with very minimal good pictures, so I'm trying to fix that... but it seems that people have turned to me to take the pictures rather than them doing the point and shoot.

wannabe
I've been playing Guitar Hero recently. It started a few weekends ago when I was home bored and ended up beating Guitar Hero II on Medium (and then on Easy, if only to get the unlock.) Beat it well? Probably not, I've averaged about 3 stars on all the songs, with a few select ones where 4 stars were attainable. Then I moved on to Guitar Hero I and beat it on Medium and then on Easy. Since then, I've moved onto Hard, and have made it solidly through the first few sections on both games fairly smoothly, with maybe only one or two songs getting failed along the way.
Until No One Knows in Guitar Hero 1 came about. I have failed this about 6-8 times so far (today alone, not including other attempts) and I only make it to about 75%. I blame the quick notes through the chorus. I'm fine with the verse riffs and sometimes can get those entirely perfect. But the stupid chorus seems to be at an Expert level rather than a Hard level.
Oh well. I'll get it eventually, but for now, I'm stuck here.
**EDIT** Right after I posted this, I went on to beat the song with 75% notes hit, 3 stars, and I attained Guitar Hero Status. Go figure.
One of these days I'll get Free Bird on Expert, one of these days.
Oh, and it seems that the majority of those who have voted do not think I am Phat. At least only one person so far has voted Ugly Monkey.

the realities of virtual relationships
I haven't really ever been a huge advocate for using the Intersuperhighway as a primary means for keeping a relationship afloat. Although I do realize that there are some people that it is really impractical to keep in contact with some friends, like one of my friends in Cambodia, and a few others that are in Sarnia and I can't travel there on a regular basis anyway, I still am of the train that if it's practical and possible to maintain your friendship in person or over the phone, this is how it should be done.
That being said, here's a video that probably half the audience of this forum of words has seen already, seeing as Brock first shared it and since then I've sent the link to a lot of my friends.
