update

1. I don't like msn 6.2 Who wants a stupid program popping up everytime you log into Hotmail? Not me, especially when windows messenger is running just fine. Also, Hotmail's being very dumb recently with all it's busy servers and such recently. Ah well...

2. My dad's computer is whacked... needs to be upgraded or formatted or something. Random freezings, tonnes of useless programs, etc... perhaps I should make a backup of what I need before I head home in case something happens.

3. I want to go on a vacation. Caribbean, Europe, South Pacific... anywhere's fine by me... just as long as it's not here. wherever that may be. I was looking up flights the other day, dreaming...

4. I have a 10 page paper to do for Monday. I have most of my research done, so it should only take about 3-4 hours worth of work from here to finish it. Max.

5. I handed in my student council application yesterday but neglected the "one-page summary of why you are applying for this position on studnet council, and if elected, what you would hope to give to this team and the students of EBC. Photo requested here." Oops. Ah well, I might get that in for Monday, as well as trying to find one more reference to write a few paragraphs about why I would be "great" on Students Council. Very vague descriptions on this years applications. Ah well. I'll survive. I think.

6. My toes are cold.

7. I have facial hair once more. It was long and disgusting until yesterday when I went at it with a pair of scissors to end up with it short and disgusting. I may just completely shave it off when I get back to school on Monday, but I think I like having it... it's just disgusting-looking... We'll see how things go.

8. I'm donating blood today if all goes well. Haven't gone since Christmas. It's time to go once more.

9. I don't want to apply for jobs, but I guess the only way that I'll get a job is by applying. I was told by people above me to "Aim High." That's nice all said and done, but the more accurate statement would have been to say "Aim Realistically." I aimed high last summer and ended up working 3 weeks total. I have a possibility at minimum wage lined up, but I'm going to apply a few different places as well... it's annoying having to apply for jobs when I'm not there yet... I'm still in school mode. Arg. Stupid future planning. I guess it goes along with the whole not being comfortable thing that I learned about last year.

10. I'm almost done reading "Searching for God Knows What" by Donald Millar. There's a lot of good thoughts in there that I never thought about before... like the reason that anyone writes or acts or whatever... it's because they're broken individuals who are trying hard to be accepted. Stupid lifeboat mentality. Arg.

11. Anyone have any jobs they think I'll do well in? I'm at a loss for ideas, and I don't want to just go out canvassing everywhere yet. That'll come in late April, early May.

That's about it. Turah.

cream peas and mold

When I was last home, about 3 weeks ago, I picked up some wonderful materials so I could make Creamed Peas and Tuna. It turned out ok... was lacking some sort of flavour, but that's what I get for not making it at home. Ah well. Anyways, there was too much, so I put it in the fridge for safe keeping. A few days later, I had some more. It was still lacking, but that's ok. Then, I left it... for 2 weeks. Today, I went to the fridge to clean it up (literally, not edibly) cause I knew it wouldn't be tasteful anymore, and lo and behold, there's the beginnings of mold. It was yummy looking, let me tell you. Not as bad as the moldy gravy we found in my fridge at home once that turned out to be moldy spaghetti sauce when we peeled it out of the container.

I guess that shows me. Ah well. Now to see what I got for dinner tonight. I have no clue what I requested... it's going to be a surprise.

11.2.05

wisdom

I guess I didn't have much wisdom last week when I wrote my midterm... I only got 53% on it... I guess that's better than 0%. I had trouble studying for that one. It's like it went in one eye and out the other. Ah well. I'll study more for the next one. At least it's only worth like 15% of my mark and not 50. I'll survive.

take a pillow...

I just read that American Airlines is removing pillows from it's short-haul domestic flights. I guess those flights are only 2-3 hours on average anyways, so it's not really worth having a pillow, but still... I've only used pillows on 4 flights - PHL-MAD-PHL; YYZ-MBJ-YYZ. YYZ-PHL-YYZ and DTW-ORD-SNA-ORD-DTW were short and during the day when I was awake. But asides from that, the airplane is one of the last moving beds that I can't get to sleep in. That and busses. I've mastered the cruise ship, car, and train over the past few years...

But anyways, don't fret. Canadian airlines including Air Canada and Westjet will keep their pillows.

this is a creation of my boredom in class last week... it doesn't have a name yet.

head injuries

I feel like I just got a concussion, cause I woke up every 2 hours last night for some reason. I don't know why, but I did. There wasn't any noise to wake me up. And the past few nights, I've been waking up mid-slumber for the same reasons. Those being I have no idea. Ah well...

Can anyone get to www.ccli.com? It's not working for me. it only seems to work when I don't need it to work. Ah well... I may survive.

confusion

I was talking with someone a few minutes ago about how to do research papers. Said individual was very overwhelmed with their paper because they had no clue how to do it. So I said to this person to find something to focus on; the topic statement and some main points about it, and then after that to find some sort of flow within the paper.

It's kinda funny how life becomes so overwhelming because we're looking at the big picture rather than focussing in on the here and now. The past is gone; the future's secure, so we just keep going in God's grace, striving for the ultimate goal, but taking it one challenge at a time.

fuseball

I'm not sure what the big uproar about football is. It's a huge pile of testosterone smashed together into one 4 hour block in which each time tries to go the longest without getting sacked by the other team. (That's Jesus for guys). I've only seen the superbowl maybe 2-3 times in my life, and each time I only watched brief glimpses of it before going to do something else. it's because fuseball's the devil.
I learned how to play football last year... I think I forget most of what I learned though. I was forced to learn and in the process recieved a bruised tailbone which didn't really excite me all that much about continuing on with playing... thankfully, due to a broken bone, I didn't have to play, which excited me. Lots.... not the broken bone, but the not playing. I've never broken a bone, but from what I've seen it hurts... a lot.

I'm out now... nothing new and exciting under the sun.

upcoming event

Mark your calandars to appreciate your favourite one on this day.

In other news, I caved and downloaded MSN 6.2 because the new Windows Messenger didn't tell me if I had any new mail or not... It's not like it mattered much because I checked my mail every 5 seconds anyways, and still do.. but it's something different. We'll see how long this spiel lasts. Probably not long before I get sick of the not-ableness to resize to the size that I like, which is thinner than it goes. Arg. Why can't ICQ be popular again? It r0x0red my s0xors off.

another quote

from the same book...

"My name is I am." He paused
I waited. He continued,
"When you live in the past,
with it's mistakes and regrets,
it is hard. I am not there.
My name is not I was.

When you live in the future,
with its problems and fears,
it is hard. I am not there.
My name is not I will be.

When you live in this moment,
It is not hard. I am here.
My name is I am."

sleep

I'm disgusted with my sleeping patterns. It's not that I go to bed at odd hours... well to some I do, but for me I try to be in bed between 11:30 and 12:00 on a regular basis. But I have trouble getting to sleep. Noise is one thing that keeps me up. But recently, even after a change of bed sheets, I've been getting really itchy while lying in bed. And tonight, to top it off, it's too hot in my room, but too cold and too hot with the window open. Ugh.

I hate sleep.

quote

I'm reading "Yearning Minds and Burning Hearts: Rediscovering the Spirituality of Jesus" right now for a Theology Book Report that's due on Monday, and I'm enjoying it, actually. It looked cool in the Library, and it's reading nicely too.

Anyways, at the beginning of the chapters, there's a quote, mostly by T.S. Eliot from his book, Four Quartets. I like this one:

"In order to arrive at what you do not know You must go by a way which is the way of ignorance... And what you do not know is the only think you know."

gah

no longer winning on ebay. Though I might have a good deal for another one without having to go through the e-bay machine.

Ah well. I'll survive. Maybe.

icicles are falling on my head...

so, to continue the perils of Lehman, the hot water is not working at the moment. This isn't the first time this has happened. Last year around the same time, the water froze completely, thus leaving us having to go to Wideman for everything. At least we can use the toilets and wash our hands here... not sure how sanitary they'd be after cold water and soap, but whatever...

I'm still winning on e-bay. No one's bid on it since ... whatever day that was. Over 2 days ago, I think... only 1.5 days left and I could be the owner of a palm pilot w/ keyboard. But we'll see. I'm not getting too excited.

"ra"

So anyways, the RA chapel was today. It went well, I think. I don't know. You never know the effectiveness of a presentation that you do because your perception is skewed towards it either was great or it sucked horribly. So that's where feedback comes in helpful to know if it worked or not. Comment cards, surveys, follow-up interviews and the likes. That's my business side speaking... I don't have much business background, but I know enough that there needs to be evaluation in order to measure effectiveness.

Ok. Done that spiel. Gord's coming soon. Yay.

exam

So I just had a midterm. It took me a total of 35 minutes to write 3 pages double spaced on foolscap about Wisdom Lit. Wasn't that bad. I don't feel bad about it, but I don't feel great about it either. It's over, and that's what makes me happy.

Now to worry about the RA chapel happening in 2 hours.... we'll see how that goes.

Pray?

ebay and the likes

So I'm currently bidding on a Palm Pilot and Keyboard combo on E-Bay. I'm the high bidder right now with 22.50 US, though I know in the next 4 days, I'll be outbid... I'm not going any higher than 25 US, cause that ends up being about 50 bucks Canadian after shipping, exchange and taxes... It's probably too much, and that's why I'm not going any higher than that. Period.

Maybe I'll win something on Ebay sometime. This is my first time bidding on anything. But after this, we'll see. I can see how it becomes an addiction for people. Reminds me of a "Rhymes with Orange" comic.... hehehehe.

I'm currently procrastinating from doing a paper that's due tomorrow that I hadn't started until this afternoon. I'm at about 5 pages out of 10 that I need in the end, and that's after about 2-3 hours of work on it. So I should be done by 10-11 tonight and happy because then I can study for my midterm on Friday. Stupid wisdom lit. Ah well... perhaps things will get better.

Supper's in 15 minutes. I'm out.

1.2.05

stick it to the man.

I have a problem. I go to sleep in my comfortable bed, and then wake up in the morning with this snake of a bed sheet wrapped around my lower body. It’s not often you see Snoopy racing bed sheets coming towards your face like a reptile ready to pounce on fresh blood. So after realizing that this was a constant happening, no matter how close to hospital corners I tucked in my sheets, I went out and got restraint. Clips that go across the corners of the mattress in hopes that the sheet will stay on… but no, the sheet is more elusive than one would think. It decided that the edges weren’t going to be held captive by a little metal clip and it wanted to be free to engulf me throughout the night. I guess I’m “The Man” who is trying to bring the bed sheet down. I thought I had conquered the sheet, but it’s fighting back: stronger and hungrier for flesh than ever. Fight for your right to sleep through the night. Take the bed sheets down. It’s the only way.

rant

I'm building up a rant against one of my classes right now, but I'm not going to share it in effort to save other people from being biassed against the class and teacher due to my ranting. It's annoying. Ah well.
